List of Critical Diseases or Illnesses Covered Under Ayushman Bharat Yojana

The Ayushman Bharat Yojana is the world’s largest government-funded healthcare scheme. Its main objective is to make India free from diseases up to the year, 2025. PMJAY aims to provide health benefits to 40% of people in the country, and medical insurance cover up to Rs 5 lakh per year. Under this scheme, 10.74 crore families would not incur the cost of hospitalization in the country. To use its perks, the PMJAY e-card must be shown by the beneficiaries of the scheme.

PMJAY helps families access the secondary and tertiary care via funding of up to Rs. 5 lakh per family, per year. This assistance is valid for daycare procedures and to pre-existing conditions. PMJAY extends coverage for over 1,350 medical packages at empanelled private and public hospitals.

A poor person who is suffering from the following critical diseases or illnesses will only avail the benefits of the Ayushman Bharat Yojana:

  1. Anterior spine fixation.
  2. Carotid angioplasty with stent.
  3. Coronary artery bypass graft.
  4. COVID-19.
  5. Double valve replacement.
  6. Laryngopharyngectomy with gastric pull-up. 
  7. Prostate cancer.
  8. Pulmonary valve replacement.
  9. Skull base surgery.
  10. Tissue expander for disfigurement following burns.
