How to determine the entitlement for Ayushman Bharat?

Ayushman Bharat Yojana is a government-funded scheme that caters the poor and rural families. For this reason, it’s economically beneficial to the poor and destitute households in the urban and rural areas. This scheme is claimed to be one of the largest healthcare schemes aiming to cover more than 50 Crore Indian citizens, and around 10 Crore underprivileged families without the limitations pertaining the family age and size. This scheme enables these households to avail the best healthcare services with insurance coverage up to Rs. 5 Lakh for each family per year.

The Ayushman Bharat Yojana or Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) is purely an entitlement-based scheme, with entitlement decided based on deprivation criteria in the SECC database. It is further categorised into two areas:

a) Eligibility for PMJAY for Rural Areas

b) Eligibility for PMJAY for Urban Areas

And also, to ensure that nobody is left out (especially children, women, and the elderly), there will be no cap on the family size and age under this scheme. It will be a cashless and paperless at public hospitals and private hospitals that come under this scheme.
