Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, which was previously known as the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, was launched by the Indian Government to better the healthcare services for the lowest levels of society in India.
This scheme offers an insurance cover of Rs.5 lakh per family per annum through the premiums paid by the central and state governments. Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana enables the poor to benefit from cashless secondary and tertiary healthcare. The scheme aims to benefit 50 crore beneficiaries in the rural and urban areas of India. The beneficiaries don't need to pay for any of the services because both the pre-and post-hospitalization expenditure are covered.
