How to enrol for Aadhaar?

The process of Aadhaar Enrolment is simple, it includes visiting the nearest Enrolment centre, filling up the enrolment form, and validating the demographic data, getting biometric data collected, submitting Proof of Identity and Address before obtaining Enrolment ID.

The entire process of Aadhaar enrolment is voluntary and free of cost for everyone.

If you're residing in Tier I cities, then find the Aadhaar kiosk at https://uidai.gov.in/images/Tier1_Cities_PECs.pdf. To find enrolment centres in other cities then visit https://appointments.uidai.gov.in/easearch.aspx

STEP 2: Fill the Enrolment form with your details. The form is also available online at https://uidai.gov.in/images/aadhaar_enrolment_correction_form_version_2.1.pdf.  You'll be required to provide proof of identity and the proof of address along with the form. Some of the proofs of identity and address are Ration card, election photo ID card, passport, driving license, PAN card, and Govt ID cards. For address proof, you can also include water bills and other utility bills from the last three months. If you don't have the mentioned proofs, then Certificate of Identify with photo issued by Gazetted Officer/Tehsildar on their letterhead will also be accepted as a proof of identity. As proof of address, even a Certificate of Address having a photo that's issued by MP or MLA /Gazetted Officer/Tehsildar on the letterhead or by Village Panchayat head or its equivalent authority (for rural areas) will be accepted.

STEP 3: Submit your documents and provide your biometrics (Fingerprint & Iris/Eyes scan). A picture of yours will also be taken.

STEP 4: Collect the acknowledgement slip which has 14-digit enrolment number, and this can be used to check the status of your Aadhaar card.

When all the documents and biometric data are submitted for Aadhaar, it could take 60-90 days for the Aadhaar card to be delivered at your residential address. It will arrive via India Post.
