Aadhaar is the unique identification card that is issued by the Indian Government to all Indian citizens. However, there are eligibility criteria, too, to enrol for this card. Aadhaar Card consists of a unique 12-digit number, known as the Aadhaar Number, and it’s based on each individual’s specific biometric and demographic data.
Indian Government has made it mandatory for everyone to link their Aadhaar with their bank accounts. The banks have also been given the authority to deactivate any bank accounts that aren't linked with Aadhaar. In fact, as per the latest regulations by the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, by 31 March 2021, it is mandatory for everyone to link their bank account with their Aadhaar Card.
