Short Term Training under PMKVY

Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) is a skill-development scheme to train India's youth for suitable jobs and enable them to lead an overall better life. The training and assessment fees for all applicants will be reimbursed by the Indian Government. The Government has allocated around Rs. 12,000 crores for funding this scheme.

Speaking about Short Term Training under the PMKVY, the Training Centres (TCs) will benefit Indian nationalities and who are either school/college dropouts or unemployed. The PMKVY scheme, which provides training according to the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF), the TCs will even give training in Soft Skills, Entrepreneurship, Financial, and Digital Literacy.

The training's duration will vary as per job role, ranging between 150 and 300 hours. Once the candidate completes their assessment, they will be provided placement assistance by Training Partners (TPs). The training given under the Short-Term Training component of the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) will be NSQF Level 5 and below.

Keeping the objectives mentioned above, the PMKVY Scheme applies to those who match the following criteria:

  1. Should be an unemployed, school/college dropouts
  2. Possess Aadhaar card and a bank account
  3. Possess verifiable alternate ID like PAN or Voter ID 
  4. Any other criteria that are defined by the SSCs for the respective job roles

Please note that college students won't be allowed to enrol under PMKVY because this Scheme focuses mainly on school/college dropouts. Moreover, with regards to corporates or factory premises, the candidates can't be their own daily wagers or employees.
