Special Projects under PMKVY

Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) is a skill-development scheme to train India's youth for suitable jobs and enable them to lead an overall better life. The training and assessment fees for all applicants will be reimbursed by the Indian Government. The Government has allocated around Rs. 12,000 crores for funding this scheme.

The Special Projects component of PMKVY forms a platform that facilitates training in special areas and/or premises of Government bodies, Corporates or Industry bodies along with training in special job roles, which are not defined under the available Qualification Packs (QPs)/National Occupational Standards (NOSs). Special Projects are those, which require some variation from the terms and conditions of Short Term Training under PMKVY for any stakeholder.

Those who can apply for Special Projects component of PMKVY include Corporate, any Training Provider, Government Institution, Association and NGO. The enrolment will be as per the Scheme's guidelines and qualification factor under the Special Projects.

What qualifies as a Special Project:

  1. The job roles should be outside the purview of the existing PMKVY job roles.
  2. TPs are providing more than or equal to 80% captive placement or 90% wage employment.
  3. Training programs are conducted in different institutional settings such as in government institutions, jail, etc.
  4. Proposals where training was executed via part-funding through PMKVY & remaining fund support from other organisation.

Do note the remaining criteria depends on individual cases and is usually decided in the Screening & Executive committee.
