These type of equity funds invest in a particular sector such as FMCG, Pharmaceutical, Banking etc. They are also known as Thematic Funds.
Since they invest in a particular sector, they carry relatively high risk because if an adverse situation affects a particular sector, then it will adversely affect almost all companies in that sector, leading to diminishing returns.
