The bank account opened under PMJDY comes with the RuPay debit card, which provides accidental insurance cover of Rs.1 Lakh.
The Prime Minister also announced that any individual who opens a bank account under PMJDY along with the RuPay Debit Card before 26th January 2015, shall get a life cover of Rs.30000, over and above the accidental insurance cover of Rs.1 Lakh already provided under the scheme.
The premium payable for these insurance covers shall be borne by the Government Of India.
