How can I get the RuPay PMJDY Debit Card?

The Rupay PMJDY Debit Card shall be issued to every individual who gets an account opened under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana. The validity period of the card is mentioned on the card itself. To get the card renewed after expiry, the applicant needs to file an application with the respective bank branch in advance.

What is Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana(PMJDY)?

PMJDY is claimed to be one of the “biggest financial inclusion initiatives in the world” having a non-discriminatory approach towards the availability of the financial services amongst every household of India. The scheme assures the provision of financial services like Savings Accounts in Banks, Credit, Insurance, Remittance, Pension, etc. Any bank can open this account with a zero balance requirement, but if the account holder desires to avail the cheque book facility, then it has to deliver minimum balance requirements.

Documents Required

Here is the list of documents required to open an account under this scheme:

  1. Filled and Signed PMJDY Account opening form
  2. Passport
  3. Driving License
  4. PAN Card
  5. Voter’s ID Card
  6. Job Card issued by NREGA- National Rural Employment Guarantee Act
  7. Letter issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India with the Name, Address and Aadhaar no. of the beneficiary
  8. After consulting the regulator, the other document required and requested by the Central Govt. is:
  1. Attested Photograph attached with a letter from a Gazetted officer
  2. ID card issued by Central or State Government Departments, Statutory or Regulatory Authorities, Public Sector Undertakings, Scheduled Commercial Banks, and Public Financial Institutions
