What are the documents required for KYC?

KYC (Know Your Customer) is a vital term used by businesses and individuals. It is a method used for verifying the identity of the individual before they begin investing with financial institutions or banks. The Indian Government has informed the vital documents required for this purpose.

The list of documents required for KYC as proof of identity and address are:

  1. Passport size photographs- at least 2 are required
  2. ID Proof - Any one from Passport, PAN Card, Ration Card, Aadhaar Card, Voter's ID Card, Driving License, employee identity card
  3. Address Proof - Any one from Passport, Rent Agreement, Telephone/ Electricity/ Water/ Credit Card Bills, Ration card, Aadhaar Card, Bank statement, Voter ID card, Driving License, or Property tax
  4. Applicants should also submit Form 16 and Income Tax Returns Statement
  5. Income proof for Salaried Individual: Salary slips for latest 3 months along with salary account bank statement for six months
  6. Income proof for Self-employed businessmen/professionals: Latest IT Returns and other certified financial documents with business continuity proof
