In the case when an insured person got died due to any injuries then the process of getting a claim under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) is described below:
Steps to be taken by the beneficiary:
Step-1: In the case when the insured person passed away, the nominee has to go to the bank from where the saving bank account of the insured person is linked to this scheme. After reaching the bank, the nominee would have to submit the death certificate of the insured person.
Step-2: After performing the above activity, the beneficiary needs to collect the claim form from the insurance company or the bank.
Step-3: After getting the claim form, the nominee needs to fill the form & submit it to the bank or insurance company along with the required documents like photocopy of cancelled cheque, death certificate, discharge receipt, bank account details of the policyholder, or bank details of the nominee.
Steps taken by the bank:
Step-1: When the nominee fulfils his/her duty of submitting the claim form along with the required documents, the bank then starts doing its duty of verifying the documents & form.
Step-2: After performing its duty of verification, the bank submits the documents submitted by the nominee to the designated insurance company. Here's the list of those documents which a bank submits:

Steps taken by the designated insurance company:
Step-1: When the insurance company receives the claim form along with the documents from the bank, it begins verifying the filed claim. The maximum time period a bank takes to approve a claim is approximately 30 days.
Step-2: When the verification of the filed claim gets successful, the claim amount will be transferred to the saving bank account of the beneficiary.
